I have had this AK-74 for a while but never got around to making a box thread so here is the thread about my AK-74. It is an Ohio Rapid Fire build on an ArmoryUSA receiver and a Bulgarian parts kit. It is a pretty awesome rifle and I love it. 5.45 rocks for price and pleasure shooting and everything about the gun is wonderful. On to the pics:
We went to the lake to have some alone time because it was finally a pleasant day in south Alabama.

As you can see by the fact that the muzzle really doesn't move very much at all, this gun was made to fire full-auto. 5.45 may not be as effective as 5.56 because it doesn't fragment, but it does penetrate better and does much better against body armor (a major concern for the Soviets, since NATO forces generally had some sort of vest). Anyway, Soviet tactical doctrine dictates that you should use your rifle on FA in most situations, so they designed a rifle to be very controllable, so even if 5.45 is not as effective as 5.56 it doesn't matter because the bad guy is going to have 4 bullets in him. The muzzle brake is fantastic and makes everyone around you have a headache from the cool preassure wave it shoots out, but it minimizes felt recoil and muzzle climb incredibly well. I found the gun to be more accurate than my 7.62 AK, shooting roughly 2-3 inch groups, vs. my 7.62 AKs 3-4 inch groups, but that may be Polish AK (7.62) vs Bulgarian AK (5.45). AK-74 stripper clips also work very very well and make mag loading way fast and easy.
tl;dr: AK-74s rock and are loads of fun and you should get one (only don't so that I can still have cheap ammo)
I dunno if I did those images right if I break tables or whatever sorry.
