Ammunition is great. Ammunition sometimes looks cool. Post photos of interesting ammo here.

125gr Bear Creek bullets in .357mag. This happens to be the most amazingly accurate ammunition I've ever loaded. Too bad they don't make this style of bullet any more.

I believe this is 100gr Federal "Ballisticlean RHT" 9mm. Supposed to break up when it hits the backstop or some shit.

BALLISTICLEAN® RHT®
Ballisticlean RHT features frangible RHT bullets that break-up immediately on contact with metal targets, significantly reducing ricochet and backsplash danger. All BallistiClean loads feature a copper-plated primer and an “NT” (non-toxic) head stamp to clearly identify BallistiClean as a training round at a glance, eliminating confusion with duty rounds.

320gr .45cal Lead Hollowpoints. This is the Gould "Express" bullet which apparently has been used in a variety of .45 caliber rifles to kill everything that moves. I shall be loading them to about 1800fps in .45-70 for wild hog slaying.

Here is some 7.62x54r. This is not, however, your average plinking Mosin ammo.

That moon writing might not mean much to you, but to me it means 7N1. That might not mean anything to you either, but to connoisseurs of communist ammo that means "awesome sniper ammo."

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/cyrano4747/DSC01574.jpg

This can opened in all of 10 seconds with that can opener, as opposed to the 2 hour ordeal that was getting into my can of Albanian surplus. Fuck albanian can openers.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/cyrano4747/DSC01575.jpg

The russians actually packaged this stuff nicely, rather than the normal "dirty paper tied shut with crappy twine" meathod.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/cyrano4747/DSC01576.jpg

They labeled it. For the Russians this is a shocking amount of effort put into packaging ammo.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j130/cyrano4747/DSC01577.jpg

They actually took the time to staple it shut. I am in awe.

VVVVVVVVV OK, OK, I'll post some more pictures of it when I get back to North Carolina in 10 days or so.

I really want someone to try this. A 3/64" tip for a MIG welder is the same diameter as a 7.62x54r bullet. somebody try it both ways for science, please.

Since that other forum can't seem to keep running for more than 5 minutes straight... or are deciding that 7pm MST is the best time to recompile the DB or whatever... I have come here to talk about my favorite thing in the world. In my frustration I post here. I suggest you do the same.

Ammo.........

Even though I haven't decided if I am going to shoot it yet, I have purchased 10 rounds of French YES FRENCH! 50 BMG ammo! from JG Sales.

http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/p/50-bmg-caliber-french-surplus-ammo%2C-10-round-packs-/products_id/1902

French 50 BMG ammo might seem like a misnomer to some of you ultra NASCAR, freedom fries, Bush lovers, I bought mainly out of curiosity and for my collection, but partially because I might decide to shoot it :P

With several hundred loaded rounds of 50 BMG and thousands of rounds in bullets and powder, its hard to just shoot ammo that you have never seen before, let alone only have 10 rounds of.

I also bought a few rounds of wolf military 115gr 9mm. I loaded it into the magazines of my Taurus PT92 and if the way an ammo looks is any indication of its suitability, it seems fairly shoot worthy.

Another ammo purchase was another 300 rd tin of that lovely brass cased Bulgy heavy ball. My rare Hungarian sniper mosin seems to swallow this Hungarian better than any other cased x54r.

Some mosins are picky/sticky about what type of ammo they easily extract. Mine is ok with the copper washed steel case if you operate the bolt like a cossack, if you get it hot the laquered case doesn't come out without the prompting from a cleaning rod, and the brass cased Bulgy comes out like its nickel plated Hornady TAP extracting from a Remington 700/Winchester 70.

I bought a box of some reloadable brass cased 9mm S&B too, but I barely think its worth mention since this ammo is just that... ammo. S&B used to be horrific, and to some snootier ammo connoisseurs (less and less of them with prices these days) it still is. To me, a person that is used to shooting milsurp ammo/weapons its fairly pedestrian. At least it will provide me with 50 more brass to reload eventually.

While walking around out by the 125 yard berm by Rob's house where the infamous "Plate" (http://www.outlawperformance.com/theplate.htm) is located at, I found a couple of interesting artifacts of prior shooting trips.

One I have identified (by looking at unloaded samples) is a .308" tracer round fired from my mosin, romak, or SKS having probably dug into a snow bank and has only damage to its posterior.

The second artifact is just the tungsten core from an Israeli M61 AP bullet. Even having struck the steel plate and after having lost its soft copper jacket, there appears to be NO deformation at all! the tip is still sharp as a needle. This seems to be from my experience with AP cores a common property of tungsten and its likely reason for being used in AP bullets in the first place.

http://www.outlawperformance.com/uploads/AP_core_tracer.jpg

While out at Robs house day before yesterday, we fired a variety of 9mm, 45acp, 40s&w, 5.56, 7.62x54r, 7.62x39, and even 17hmr guns. Of all the guns fired, my bull barreled 10/22 was probably the most fun/enjoyable weapon of them all. We both used it to draw pictures on an old highway exit sign that he rescued from the recyclers as a target.

Looking to the right, thats no illusion...behold a few 700 grain S&W 500 rounds.

A buddy of mine uses and shoots these quite freely in his S&W, I've fired one and will admit that I was tempted to pray prior, during, and after. Nonetheless it was still hard to wipe the grin off my face afterwards. :D
