The safety looks like shit and doesn't fit?

Oh, and the grips are weird and don't fit either.

Hey - I got the buttplug off. Also, you need to buy a new 1911 so I can live vicariously though you for another two years.

I am saddened by the presence of rubber finger grooves on your 1911, Nitrogen. :(

On the other hand you appear to have completed the rest of the modifications you had planned and they look good.

Nice guns, and great composition of those photos, .45ACPLove. Can't believe I haven't posted these yet:

Springfield Armory Mil-Spec with tulipwood grips. First, a glamour photo:

http://how-i-did-it.org/img/1911/wood_right.jpg

And now a shot of it in its usual element:

http://how-i-did-it.org/img/1911/dirty_milspec.jpg

Finally, the gun with some new burlwood grips:

http://how-i-did-it.org/img/misc/burlwood_right_bottom_angle.jpg

http://how-i-did-it.org/img/misc/burlwood_butt.jpg

Here's a 1911 that's not nearly as polished and snazzy. However, I like it a great deal because I built it and it a) works most of the time and b) does so without taking my hand off at the wrist.

thank you very much Fang. i really enjoy taking pics of my firearms. i've got a ton of pics. lol. the shoulder holster in the last few pics is an Andrew's Leather Monarch rig with a triple mag carrier. i LOVE that rig. super comfortable and the triple mags balances the weight of the govt. model very very well. the last pics counts as a 1911 pic i guess. it's a cake my wife had made for my birthday on '07. best cake i've ever had!!!

That is an ugly carpet.

It's even worse in person. Shockingly ugly, but it came with the house. The hell of it is that it's in really great shape.

I had plans to tear it out and replace it with some nice laminate; but then I got married and learned that my wife is a financial retard, so I've got to clean her mess up instead.

On to happier things. Here's another picture of my Spartan, on something that's less ugly than the carpet (although, like everything else since my wife moved in before we got married, it's covered in cat hair).

I had a little exercise in tedium this week, although I suspect that Paratrooper's relation to 7th SFG would cause him to appreciate my South American Wünder-45.

My Springfield USGI has been slowly evolving over the years. It started out as a base model gun when I got it. The first order of the day was to put a better trigger in it using spare parts from my dad's pile of 1911 parts. It has a generic trigger, and a tool steel hammer.

After a few years I got bored with that, and I decided to get my hands dirty and make some major changes. The first change was a swap to a checkered main spring housing. That was followed by the decision to checker the front strap.

Here are some photo notes from that ordeal:

Hello. My first post here. I thought I might show a pic of my most recent 1911 purchase.

Springfield Loaded Parkerized. I ditched the logo billboard grips for some rosewood full checkered. Also replaced the SA MSH (which was plum when NIB) with a parkerized S&A drop in thus getting rid of the ILS. And because the heavier mainspring was gone I also dropped in an Ed Brown steel FP and lighter spring. I also pulled out the MIM extractor and replaced it with a tuned tool steel Wilson Combat extractor.

I'm carrying it off-duty and will soon add it to my reportoire of duty sidearms when I get the Safariland ALS holster and mag pouch.

Thanks for looking!
