This knife forum has yet to be used and this upsets me to a good degree. It's nobody's fault.....Gtab.
Anyway on with knifery:
USMC Ka-Bar, fixed blade knife. Just screams "Big ol' fuck-off knife." It's a permanent fixture in my bugout/camping/hiking bag. You never know when you'll need to chop down a tree or charging communist, so keep it close!

Here's a really bad picture of my daily carry knife, a CRKT M16-13Z. Its a great knife for general use, drops in the pocket, and is big enough for most applications. I don't really like the partial serrations, but for $40 it was worth picking up.

http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/IMG_3331_Vga.JPG
And finally my keychain-carry, a Leatherman Squirt E-4 Multitool. Rather than pliers, the E-4 is designed for electricians, telecom techs, or cable monkeys. It has wire strippers, wire cutters, and small 'gripping' forceps on the end. I picked this up from the Leatherman Factory in Portland, and actually watched them making other Squirts. Pretty cool stuff.

And a 'family photo' so to speak:

I will now clear the next 19 pages for Gtab's post.

After seeing GSVs thread about his new knife I figured I share old faithful

I got that knife for $20 or so at Walmart about 3 years ago. Got it for opening boxes at work and found that as an older gent once told me: Always have a knife on you. Didnt think much of it, but after a few years I can say that a simple knife is really one of the best tools to carry with you period.
Got knife?

I use a dedicated boxcutter at work since I am exposed to the public and don't need anyone freaking out about some "evil knife" bullshit.
Occasionally I carry a cheap $2.50 folding knife, depending on where I am going. I don't particularly like carrying a knife. Pretty fucking sharp, suprisingly.

EDIT: I keep meaning to pick up a ka-bar for when I go hiking or fucking off in the woods.

The Kershaw (the black one) is my daily carry. It's an awesome knife but is in need of sharpening. The others were either given to me or I have found them going through junk when my grandpa died.

Snagged this today, not sure of the brand but it works. Blade is pretty sharp, but as it is not within the legal length for carry, its going to go into my BOB if I ever make one.

this is the only picture i have of my knife. i found it in the parking lot of a gas station. it's a pre-production benchmade model #326/1000. i did know the type but it's a discontinued model. someone ground of the tip of the blade. it originally had a very nice point. still it's a great knife. i can flip it open with ease and it has a great locking system. holds it's edge pretty well too.

i love it. the balance is actually quite nice. it's full tang and seems to be built with good materials. i went over to my grandparents the other day and got down where i used to throw my knives when i was younger. it's got enough balance to throw accurately and stick in what you're throwing at. i'd reccomend it to ya.

Since I'm new here I thought I'd participate. I've had more knives in my life time than I can count. They come and go like bic lighters to most of you (although zippos come and go for me... why am I so hard on shit?).
Anyway, the usual suspects, pic's kinda old but
KABAR, Next is the Case red bone single bladed Trapper on the top right, below that is an old American that my father picked up in the 70's and gave to me as a child. The last knife is a cheap $7 blade I bought at walmart to have something that I wouldn't mind destroying the blade to (to which I did, and didn't care).

Shown with a S&W blade I picked up at Autozone for $3 with my mil discount, this replaced the cheap walmart blade and I proceeded to go through nine of these blades over a year and a half period. They come with lifetime warranties and and Autozone will exchange them without questions.

I've made some other knives over the last year but it's a hobby and I like making spike knives (Rail Road Spikes). I have several pieces of steel varying from wrought iron to high carbon tool steel that I intend on forging this winter. I'll probably end up updating this thread several times over the next few months. Lets hope my skills and knowledge have progressed over the year break I've taken.

Knife Open.
http://230grain.com/images/rsrh/sog3.JPG
Here you can see the from left to right: The folding mechanism, the lock and the built in groove in the handle. Lock up lets the knife open with ease, down the knife is locked. The groove has a portion of the knife exposed, slipping cord, small rope, and possibly a seat belt in the channel will cut whatever you slide into the channel. Don't quote me on the seatbelt portion.

Wow man. Can you post more pictures and tell us more about the how to? That looks great!

It started life as one of the more heavier railroad spikes out of a pile I have.
How to is kinda simple..... Heat it in a forge, beat on it with a hammer, throw it in a vise with a big crescent wrench, twist, throw back into the heat and bang on it some more. Finished product was achieved with bench grinder, belt sander, and hand sanding. Sadly I only polished it to 300 grit. I decided I wanted it to have a rustic patina about, then for some reason I decided to polish the twist. Anyway, on with the pic whoring.

Thanks! Have you done a lot of them? The pictures really brought the entire thing together. I need to find an old track somewhere and try doing this myself.

You'd do a lot better with an Anvil. There are two types of Anvils. Cast Iron and Forged Steel. If you hit the Horn of an anvil and you get an almost bell like ring to it, it's Forged Steel. If you strike the horn and you get a thud or clunk out of it, you have cast iron. The problem with cast iron is that it becomes very brittle with temperature and these anvils can shatter or just crack and break.
If you're going to use railroad track..... research Titanium railroad track and ask around about it. You might just find someone who doesn't know what they have and will be wiling to part with it.
I suggest this because there's a spring rate/ spring back to steel track and your hammer really will bounce off it when you strike it.

To get the twist did you head the knife up in the forge, shove the blade in a vise, and use a big pair of black smiths pliers to spin it?

It probably is the angle, I'm not much of a photog (yet). The balance is really nice, one finger on the cut out area and it will balance on that nicely. The handle is quite long so it's perfect for my hands and with the axis lock it can be opened with a wrist flick *ssh*.
I should have gotten a mini AFCK when I had the chance too, I like the thumbhole on it a lot. It is more comfortable than most spydercos (from that time) because it is nicely chamfered.

The Seal Pup was and still is a solid knife. It is a little abused looking now, but can still do the job. For the price, it is a great choice.
